FAQ
Answers to common questions about timeuntil.today.
- Do I need to sign up to create a countdown?
- No. We use anonymous accounts by default. You can create, comment, react, and follow without ever seeing a sign-up form. Google sign-in is optional — only if you want your events to follow you across devices.
- Why does it show a different time than my friend?
- Each viewer sees the countdown ticking in their own local timezone. The event's original timezone (the one the creator picked) is also shown for reference.
- How long do countdowns last after they end?
- Public countdowns stay visible for 72 hours after the target time in a 'Released X ago' mode. After that, most are deleted automatically. Significant ones — high views, comments, reactions — are preserved permanently in the archive.
- Can I make my countdown private?
- Yes. Toggle visibility to 'Private' when you create the event and only you will be able to see it (signed into the same account you used to create it).
- What languages do you support?
- English, Spanish, Arabic, and Brazilian Portuguese. Switch with the flag bar in the top right.
- Can I create a countdown from ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity?
- Yes. Ask your AI assistant to give you a timeuntil.today create link with the title and date. The URL pattern is https://timeuntil.today/en/new?title=YOUR+TITLE&date=YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM&tz=Area/City&category=music — open the link, the form is pre-filled, you click Create. The pattern is documented at /llms.txt so AI engines can emit it on their own.
- How do I delete my account?
- Open your dashboard → scroll to the red 'Delete your account' section → type DELETE → confirm. This permanently removes your account, every countdown you created, every comment you posted, and your sign-in record. We never charge for this and never ask why.
- How accurate are seeded countdowns?
- Religious and astronomical events are computed and reliable. Movie/game/album dates can shift — if you spot a stale date, click 'Report stale date' on the event page. We review every report.
